What is Google AdSense? Tips to Make Money With It

Google AdSense is an advertising program that allows you to run ads on your website, blog, or YouTube videos and get paid when visitors click on them. Since 2003, Google AdSense has helped website owners make money from their content without having to deal directly with advertisers. With millions of advertisers looking to advertise their products and services, there’s a good chance someone will want to run ads on your site, and more importantly, pay you money.

Google AdSense Ad Types

The available ad types include:

1) Text and display ads. : These are static text- or image-based ads. They may be placed in areas such as the top or bottom of a page, and are relatively unobtrusive. You can choose to display text-only (Text) or image-only (Display) ads, or a combination of both (Text & display). This is the most recommended option to maximize your revenue, as text and display ads look relatively similar.

2) In-feed ads. : In-feed ads are designed to pop up as users scroll through a feed. In-feed ads can help to promote engagement because they are displayed organically, and they appear similar enough to your own site’s content that they’ll be less likely to stand out to your visitors.

3) In-article ads. : These are just like in-feed ads, except that they’re displayed as a visitor scrolls through an article on your site.

Google AdSense Payments & Threshold :

Google charges advertisers per ad click. Publishers get 68% of the click amount.

The commission you get depends heavily on the competition and CPC in the niche. The commission per click can range from $0.1 to $10. The majority of niches bring less than $3 per click to publishers.

Google pays through direct deposit or cheque each month your earnings reach $100 (Threshold amount). If you earn less than $100 in one month, your earnings roll over and are added to the next month. Each time you reach the $100 threshold, Google will issue a payment on the next payment period. Through your AdSense account, you can see your current earnings, what ads are generating the most clicks, and other helpful data.

How Does AdSense Work?

The AdSense process is quite simple. You just need to create an AdSense account, copy/paste a simple code into your website pages. Google will display targeted ads on your page that are either relevant to the content of your website or to users’ previous searches, based on its proprietary algorithms.

Your website visitors will start clicking those ads and you will be paid for it. Google AdSense works on a cost-per-click and revenue-sharing basis. This means that your main task will be to provide as many clicks to those ads as possible.
